Number of Servings: 12


    1 lb beef stew meat, diced
    1 cup each of chopped onion, carrot and celery
    2 tbsp beef boullion or 1 large cube
    5 cups water
    1, 14 oz can tomato sauce
    2 minced garlic cloves
    1 tsp tabasco (hot sauce) or less
    1 tsp worcestershire
    1/2 cup pearl barley
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1 tsp sugar or splenda (optional)
    sea salt to taste (optional)


Combine all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours. This makes a hearty meal. Leave out the hot sauce for the kids if you wish. I add a small squirt of ketchup in my kids' serving and they love it. Enjoy.
