Introduction

This is a staple in our house. I can many tomatoes in the fall with carrots, basil & onions already in the mix. I can whip this up in a short time all on the stovetop & only 1 pan to clean after supper. We enjoy it with grated parmesan sprinkled on top. This is a staple in our house. Ingredients

    lean ground beef; white rice: water ; home-canned tomatoes with carrots, onions, & basil

Directions

In a large skillet or 2 quart saucepan brown ground beef (ok from frozen) and salt & pepper to taste. Add onions, carrots, and basil (if not already in home-canned tomato mix). Add rice, water and tomato mix and cover. Simmer about 5 minutes until rice has softened. Serve with parmesan cheese if desired.
