Do I need to go to a specialty store to find a poblano pepper? - 2/11/10

It depends on where you live. In the southwest, poblano peppers are sold in every normal grocery store produce area. They are very dark green and glossy, about the size of my hand. Probable substitutions are any mild to medium spicy type of chili pepper. I tried bell peppers and it was bland.
