Introduction

I found this idea through a blog and modified it to be more healthy and added some nuts. I found this idea through a blog and modified it to be more healthy and added some nuts.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    5 Cups Oatmeal
    1/2 Cup sliced almonds
    1/4 Cup pumpkin seeds
    1/4 Cup Applesauce (unsweetened)
    1/4 Cup honey or maple syrup (depending on preference)
    3 Tbsp molasses
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    2 tsp vanilla

Directions

Combine ingredients in a large slow cooker (minus the seeds and nuts)

Cook on high for 3-4 hours stirring every 20-30 minutes.

Half way through the cooking process add the seeds and nuts.

Serving = 1/3 cup

You can also add other nuts and seeds as well as raisins or dried cranberries however they are not included in the nutritional info.

    This was an interesting idea. It toasted well in the crock pot. As is, I thought the recipe was a bit bland, but it is a great starting point! Will do again with variations. - 5/2/10

    I definitely want to try this. Two questions: when you say "Oatmeal," I assume you are talking about regular uncooked oats, but are they steel cut, quick, instant, rolled, etc? Two, do you think there is anything that could be substituted for the molasses?
