This is a variation on my mom's recipe. I changed it for the slow cooker and removed the sugar.
This is my mom's recipe and is super yummy. I've substituted apple sauce for the oil and splenda for the sugar so they are under 100 calories per muffin.
My Nana developed this recipe from one that had milk in it. Its amazing and you don't even need icing!

mix in sugar, gradually
mix in jello mix, gradually
mix in vinegar
fold in chocolate chips
I used a base from the Oatmeal Applessauce muffins also off this site. Then I added my own touch..
you can use all heavy cream (4 C) and then your choice of 2C of milk and also 4 whole eggs rather than the egg whites, as well as 1 1/2 C of real sugar. In my recipe, I have substituted some lower fat/lower cal. ingredients and still had a good quality end result.
