Use canned tomatoes (stewed, diced, whole, whatever is cheap) to add chunkiness to sauce.
No-salt-added tomato sauce and tomatoes reduces the sodium content.
Drain the sauted onions and peppers and browned meat to reduce the fat content (I record meat as lower fat than actual to account for removed fat)
Great use for leftover mashed potatoes. You can also add whatever veggies you like, such as corn, green beans, or small squash cubes. To reduce the carbs, stretch the potatoes with mashed cauliflower or use other veggies instead of peas.
