Tasty, but calories are way off, dried split peas are 170 calories for the 1/4 cup serving that is in one serving of this soup, put this in the recipe calculator and it comes out to 188 calories for 1/8 of the recipe
Easy. I thought the seasonings have this standard tasting a bit odd. I like salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Thickness was about right.
I subbed thyme for the marjoram; otherwise, made to recipe, used BLIBBITY's suggestion to add curry powder. I divvied it up into 9 one cup containers, for 114 calories. More nutritious than popcorn for a snack! Add hot sauce! Add Splenda for dessert! Hot or cold.
IAJOEB - Different people will cook for different times (3-4 hours is a range, not an exact) and at varying temps. Therefore the end product will be different. The recipe says it makes 8 servings. Therefore, one serving is approximately 1/8th of the final product. All nutrition #s are approximate.
I recalculated the nutritional values using the recipe calculator - 75 calories. Every one loved this soup. I added a bay leaf and left out the marjoram. Will definitely make again.
just a note - the nutritional information might be incorrect. i know that the split peas i have are about 170 calories for just 1/4 cup!
