    Good
The 25 serving suggestion seemed paltry, so I made changes to decrease fat & calories for bigger servings. I instead used no-sugar-added cherry filling and subbed butter for margarine, decreasing the amount to 2 tbs. I also mixed the batter. 1/12 of my cake clocks in at 220 cals & only 5 grams fat. - 4/26/17

This is my BF's favorite cake and I love the simplicity of it! I use lite pie filling and fruit if I can find it I usually sprinkle in some flax seed before I add the cake mix. I've also made it using two cans of apple pie filling and spice cake, and one with blueberry pie filling and lemon cake. - 1/23/14

When I read this on Friday, I was a bit skeptical. even when I was putting it together. I thought "It couldn't possibly be this easy". But sure enough it was and it was delicious! I'm not a 'nut' person, so next time I'm going to substitute the almonds with a streusle topping. - 8/17/09

I used 2 cans of cherry pie filling with extra cherries in them and 2 cans of crushed pineapple. The cake was such a hit with my friends, that I will definitely make it again. It was also quite simple to assemble. - 7/24/08

I have made this cake maybe 6 times. It just is so easy to fix for a family gathering. I have also substituted a bag of frozen blueberries in place of the cherries and it also worked out well. Just add the blueberries while still frozen. Small pieces are good because it it rich and moist. - 7/4/08
