Ingredients

4 (3/4 inch) thick pork chops
    1 teaspoon vegetable oil
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced
    3 tablespoons pecans (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C). Place a medium dish in the oven to warm.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush chops lightly with oil and place in hot pan. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, or until done. Transfer to the warm dish, and keep warm in the preheated oven.
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, salt and pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add butter to skillet, and stir in brown sugar mixture and apples. Cover and cook until apples are just tender. Remove apples with a slotted spoon and arrange on top of chops. Keep warm in the preheated oven.
Continue cooking sauce uncovered in skillet, until thickened slightly. Spoon sauce over apples and chops.

My husband made these for dinner tonight, it's a great combo of sweet and savory. The pepper cuts through the sauce just enough to keep it from tasting like dessert. This is one we'll be making regularly, I think we probably only spent 25-35 minutes total preparing and cooking, too. - 11/11/08

I loved this! Quick and easy to make, and hits the spot when those sweet/spicy cravings of fall hit you. I didn't have tart apples so I used Fuji's and it was still wonderful. Will definitely make this again! - 10/21/08

This was very good and sooo easy to make. My husband said he was going to buy pork more often. We used tenderloin instead of chops. - 10/21/08

VERY good! I loved it! FYI, if you're out of brown sugar (like I was), you can combined 1/3 c sugar with 1 tbsp molasses. I will definitely make this one again! - 6/13/12

I'm not a pork chop fan, but it is what my husband wanted for Sunday lunch. WOW!!! My daughters both ate quite a bit as well. I didn't have any drippings left to thicken, or I would have given this a five:) - 1/2/11

This recipe was extremely easy and very fast to cook. Overall, it was good, but I have had better and am still on the hunt for a better recipe. I would use this recipe again though if short on time as it was extremely simple and quick to make and my family enjoyed it as well. - 7/3/10

This was an awesome meal. We did not have nutmeg so I used cayenne pepper and man was that good! Added a nice bite. I only had one problem in that there was no sauce after cooking the apples. I think my cover was not tight enough :( I will definitely make again and try a tighter cover. - 2/4/10

Phenomenal! I was a little skeptical of the mix of the sweet, apple-pie-like ingredients with pork, but, wow, this recipe blew my socks off! I certainly recommend it. My husband requested that it be made a regular meal in our household. - 7/20/09
