Introduction

A basic blend which can be altered to personal preferences, each brownie has a decent amount of protein (4 g), are low fat, and only about 50 calories each. Ingredients

    -1 cup of splenda or other sugar substitute

    -1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

    - 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract

    - 4 egg whites

    - 1/4 cup of all purpose unbleached flour

    - 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

    - 1/2 tsp of baking powder

    - 1/2 tsp salt

    - 1 tbsp of flax seed meal or ground flaxseeds

    - 1/2 pkt of favorite hot cocoa mix (optional)

Directions

(Makes 8 servings)

(Preheat your oven to 350 degrees)

mix the sugar substitute, egg whites, baking powder, salt, applesauce, unsweetened cocoa powder, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.

add in the flour, flax seeds, and half of your favorite hot cocoa mix next. stir until all the lumps are gone and if needed add a tsp or so of water.

add in some cinnamon or another spice for some more flavor.

spray an 8 by 8 pan with cooking spray.

fill the mix into the pan and set into the oven for 20-25 minutes or until fully baked (test it by poking it with a toothpick).

after it is done let it cool for 5 minutes. cut it into 8 pieces and enjoy!

    Are the flaxseeds and applesauce necessary? Otherwise they sound delicious and I will definately be making these in the future! - 11/1/11
