June chose a tried and true favorite, a relish or side dish that she has served with ham or barbeque for years. She obtained this recipe from the Better Homes & Gardens Barbecue Book, 1965 edition. Ingredients

    1 c. sugar
    1 T. minced onion
    1/2 c. cider vinegar
    1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
    3 T. prepared yellow mustard
    16 oz. can, drained, or 19 oz. package, frozen, yellow wax beans

Directions

Combine the following in a cooking pot and bring to the boiling point: sugar, onion, cider vinegar, salt (if desired), and mustard. When the sugar has dissolved, add the yellow wax beans to the pot. Simmer uncovered 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool in pot, pour into closed container, and then refrigerate overnight. Enjoy.
