Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

1 lb of pasta shells or elbows
1 lb of lean hamburger/ground beef
1 lb of american cheese 2%
1 large onion or more if you like
15 oz can of tomato sauce
1 can of cream of low fat mushroom soup
1 -2 slices of bread made into buttered toast
    garlic powder for toast

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Butter or grease a 13X9 glass casserole dish. Cook 1lb of pasta shells, drain and set aside. Chop and saute a large onion in a large frying pan. Add ground beef and brown. When it is browned, add a 15 oz can of tomato sauce. Season to taste. Chop up 1 pound of american cheese, put in a double boiler, heating on low heat. Add a can of cream of mushroom to the cheese and let them melt together. When all three parts, pasta, hamburger and cheese, are ready mix them all together in the pot that you cooked your pasta in. Then pour the whole mess into a casserole dish. Take your bread, toast it, butter it and sprinkle it with garlic powder. Cut the bread up into squares/croutons and sprinkle the pieces on top of your casserole. Put the casserole in the oven for 30 minutes. When it is slightly browned on top and seems all hot and bubbly, remove from the oven and enjoy!
