Introduction

This is my version of a meat sauce to pour over rice. The sauce is also used as a base for something called "steam kebab," a Turkish recipe that is a favorite in my family. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    Lamb, Cubed, 1.5 lb (beef may be substituted)
    Butter, unsalted, 2 tbsp
    Onions, raw, 1 large
    Red Ripe Tomato, 1 large whole
    Beef broth, bouillon, consomme, 2 cups (I use 2 cups pkged low sodium beef broth plus 1 tsp Better than Bouillon)

Directions

Saute meat in butter and onion over medium heat in large saucepan (I use my LeCruset pot), stirring occasionally until meat is browned (approximately 30 minutes)
Add diced tomato and saute for about 10 minutes.
Add 2 cups beef broth w/Better than Bouillon and freshly ground black pepper.
Cover and simmer until meat is tender and joice is reduced, approximately 1.5 hours.
Ladle sauce over rice or use sauce for Steam Kabab recipe.
