Ingredients

    1/2 cup shortening
    1 tablespoon milk
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1 egg beaten
    1 cup all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Directions

preheat oven to 350

grease and flour 8x8 pan

combine shortening and milk in large saucepan and heat until melted. Remove from heat and add brown sugar and egg. Stir well.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into sugar mixture. Stir in vanilla, and spread evenly into prepared pan.

bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick in middle comes out clean

cool and cut into 2x2 inch squares
