Ingredients

    Olive Oil, 1 tbsp
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Lentils, 1.5 cup
    brown rice (1 cup cooked), 1 serving
    Ham, smoked honey ham, spiral ham, 12 oz
    Cumin (ground), 1 tsp
    Pepper, red or cayenne, 1 tsp
    Sage, ground, .5 tsp
    Pepper, black, 1 tsp
    Soup, chicken broth, canned, low/reduced sodium, 6 cup

Directions

Rough chop onion, and saute for 5 minutes in 1 tbsp olive oil. Put broth, lentils, rice, and onion into crockpot or slow cooker; cook on medium-low for approximately three hours, until lentils soften and rice is very softened. Add cubed ham or turkey sausage and spices. Cook for one more hour on medium. Substantial enough alone but may be served with bread or crackers and a salad.
