Ingredients
-
2 cups Flour
6 Tbsp sugar
2 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup ham, diced
2/3 cup pineapple tidbits, drained and patted dry
1 1/2 cups shredded pepperjack cheese
1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
Add ham, pineapple, cheese and nuts, mix throughly.
Add buttermilk and stir till dough is evenly moistened.
Pat dough into a ball and knead in bowl, just until dough holds together.
Place on lightly buttered baking sheet and flatten into a 3/4 inch thick round, about 12 inches across.
With a floured knife, cut into eight wedges and move slightly apart.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean.
Serve warm or cool.
Variation for snacks: Pat dough into two balls and kneed until it holds together. Pat out each ball of dough on a lightly buttered pan to 1/2 inch thick and about 6 inches across. Cut each round into 8 wedges. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 375 degrees.
