I like to take recipes and add to the nutrition value
by adding ingredients, which is what I did here.
Could not be easier, however, you will need a 5qt
slow cooker, and a hand blender all so will help.

Ingredients

    1 (1lb.) bag of dried split peas
    1C. Celery, Sliced
    1C. Carrots, Sliced
    1C. Onion, Sliced
    4C. Chicken Broth
    8C. Water
    12 oz Smoked ham, diced
    2/3 C Quinoa (Keen-WA)
    2/3 C Medium Pearled Barley
    1-3 TBS. Morton brand Nature's Seasons Seasoning Blend to taste

Directions

Place all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook 4 hr on high
or 8 hr on low. Use Hand Blender to puree.
