I've worked on perfecting the right blend of flours, oil, sugar to come up with a pancake recipe that while not necessarily low-cal, is nutritious and not just empty calories. Ingredients

Whole Wheat Flour, 3/4 cup
White Flour, enriched, 1/4 cup
Oat Bran, 1/4 cup
Baking Powder, 2 tsp
Baking Soda, 1 tsp
Cinnamon, ground, 1 tbsp
Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
Canola Oil, 2 tbsp
Egg, fresh, 1 large
Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp
Almonds, .1/4 cup, sliced
Directions
In a large bowl combine:
Whole Wheat Flour, 3/4 cup
White Flour, enriched, 1/4 cup
Oat Bran, 1/4 cup
Baking Powder, 2 tsp
Baking Soda, 1 tsp
Cinnamon, ground, 1 tbsp
In a small bowl combine:
Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
Canola Oil, 2 tbsp
Egg, fresh, 1 large
Granulated Sugar, 2 tsp
Add the wet ingredients to the dry and combine until lumpy.
Heat a griddle over medium. Pour 1/4 cup onto hot griddle. Sprinkle sliced almonds. Flip when edges are brown.
OPTION: Mix in 1/2 cup applesauce. Eliminate sugar and increase white flour to 1/2 cup.
