Introduction

Our family has been trying to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into our diet. We've been reading a lot about raw food diets. We like meat too much to give that up (especially baked chicken) so we have started by adding one green smoothie to our diet each day. This is the first green smoothie we tried and enjoyed. As we get used to the different greens that most people put in their green smoothies (kale, collards, spinach, etc.), we will increase the amount of greens vs. fruit. Enjoy! Ingredients

    2 cups Kale
    1 Gala Apple (Medium)
    1 Banana (Large)
    1 Bartlett Pear (Medium)
    1 Kiwi (Medium)
    1 cup Red Seedless Grapes
    1 California Navel Orange (Large...about 250g)
    1.5 cups Ice

Tips

Freeze the banana and/or grapes prior to making this drink if you like ice cold drinks. Either way, they taste great! Sometimes I don't stick exactly to the recipe and I add whatever I have on hand (or in the freezer).

Directions

Add all ingredients to a blender (I use a Vita-Mix blender). Mix until blended thoroughly. The longer this type of drink sits, the thicker its consistency becomes. It is best to drink immediately.

Serving Size: Make 3 very large serving (20 oz each).
