Ingredients

    .5 cup uncooked pearl barley
    2 tsp hemp seeds
    1.5 cup water
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and whatever other spices

    (can top with flax, agave, sugar, and/or nuts - but those are not included in the nutritional info)

Directions

1. Combine barley and water in a 4-cup capacity bowl. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
2. Uncover bowl, and stir in the salt. Bring to a boil on stove for about ten minutes until water evaporates (or microwave for about 10 mins, stopping to stir every 3 mins.

Stir in the hemp seeds and spices (along with any other spices, nuts, and sweetener as desired.

    Very Good
    I liked this a lot. The cinnamon adds that special yum to it. Know in advance that Barley is more like brown rice when cooked than like oatmeal, so expect to chew your food. - 3/5/12
