A nice sweet and savoury ethnic stew. A nice sweet and savoury ethnic stew.
Number of Servings: 8


    2 pounds cubed lamb stewing meat.
    2 medium sized onions, diced.
    about 1/4 to 1/2 pound loose pitted dates, cut in half.
    1/2 cup almonds, roughly chopped.
    1 teaspoon salt (or to taste).
    1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper.
    1 teaspoon ground ginger.
    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
    1 tablespoon honey.
    1 teaspoon saffron.
    3 tablespoons Canola oil.
    about 2 cups water.
    1 tablespoon sesame seeds.


This goes well served on top of rice, or with flat bread on the side.


1) Place everything into a medium size crock-pot. Give it a stir. (adjust water if needed. It should come to the top, but not quite cover everything.)
2) Set the crock-pot on low, and cook for about 7-8 hours.

Serving Size: divides into 8 servings.
