Introduction

Ingredients

    1 lb. dried great northern beans (or your choice of beans)
    3 slices bacon cooked and cut into 1" pieces
    1 c brown sugar (light or dark)
    1/2 c onion chopped (or can substitute onion powder)
    3 Tbsp. Ketchup
    Enough water to fill bean pot to top.

Tips

Bacon can be done in microwave. Drain any grease from bacon if done in a skillet. Can also add garlic or garlic powder to taste.


Directions

Drain water that was used to soak beans.Combine cooked bacon, brown sugar, ketchup and water together with beans and put in bean pot. Cover bean pot and cook at 250-300 degrees for 6-8 hours or until water is absorbed. Stir after about 3-4 hours and recover pot.
