Introduction

This is a little bit like my split pea with smoked turkey soup, except there are no pieces of meat in it. The broth is partially flavored from boiling skin from smoked turkey. Ingredients

    12 cups of tap water
    1.5 cups smoked turkey skin
1 smallish bag of dry split peas (about 3 cups)
    2 cups dry lentils
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 tbsp smoked paprika
    2 tbsp onion powder
    2 tbsp garlic powder
    3 tbsp salt(optional)
    1/2-1 tsp ground black pepper

Directions

In a large soup pot, add turkey skins with 12 cups of water. Boil for about 45 minutes before adding peas, lentils, onions, and seasonings. Continue boiling until it turns almost like porridge in consistency, stirring often to avoid clumping at the bottom.
