    2 cups chicken broth
    2 cans black beans
    2 cups water
    1 cup chopped onion
    1 cup chopped celery
    4 cloves garlic, minced 1 tsp ground coriander
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp ground red pepper
    8 oz fully cooked italian sausage, crumbled
    Garnishings: sour cream, shredded cheese, avocado, cilantro, tortilla chips (optional)


Rinse and drain beans. Add all ingredients to stock pot and simmer for 30 minutes--until heated through.

    I love this BH&G recipe, but I make it with 1 c of dry black beans plus 2 c of water to replace the canned beans. Very tasty! I like it so much, I entered it into the database, then discovered someone else already had! - 9/16/08
