Ingredients
-
Pie crust ingredients (top and bottom crust):
2 cup all-purpose flour (organic, white)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup (4 tbsp.) Great Value shortening
1/2 cup cold water
Pie Filling:
21 oz. can of Great Value No Sugar Added Cherry Pie Filling
Directions
To Make Pie Crust:
Position knife blade in food processor bowl; add 1 cup flour and 1/4 tsp salt. Top with cover, and process pulsing 3 or 4 times until combined. Add 1/4 cup shortening to flour mixture. Process pulsing 5 or 6 times or until mixture resembles coarse meal. With processor running, slowly add 1/4 cup water (1 tablespoon at a time); process only until dough begins to form a ball and leaves sides of bowl. Cover and chill 30 minutes.
Repeat the same steps with the remaining half of the above ingredients to make the top pie crust before baking.
**Preheat oven at 37 degrees**
To fit into pieplate, roll each batch of dough, seperately, to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pieplate; trim off excess pastry along edges.
Yield: top and bottom pastry for a 9-inch pie (8 slices)
To Make Pie:
Simply pour can of no sugar added cherry pie filling into pie crust. Lay top crust over the pie filling, trim off excess edges, fold edges under and flute. Make slits on top of crust for steam to escape. Bake at 375 degees for 40-45 minutes, or until crust is browned.
Cover edges of pasty with strips of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning, if necessary.
Yield: 9-inch pie (8 slices)
