Traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Recipe. The molasses in this recipe is not found in grocery stores but can be ordered online or found in Amish Markets. Ingredients

    1 cup sifted flour
    2/3 Cup brown sugar
    1/2 tsp salt
    3 TBSP shortening (not butter flavored)
    2/3 cup molasses (amish table syrup)
    2/3 cup boiling water
    1/2 tsp baking soda.



Directions

In second bowl, mix molasses, boiling water, and then add the soda. Immediately put the wet ingredients into the pie crust lined pan. sprinkle dry ingredients over the liquid in the pie pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then turn down to 350 degrees for 25 minutes or more (until top is firm.)
