Introduction

Delicious and healthy oatmeal flavored with apples. Delicious and healthy oatmeal flavored with apples.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    2 apples (I used a granny smith and gala)
    1 cup oatmeal
    2 cups water
    1 Tablespoon brown sugar (other sweetener can be used or this can be omitted)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    Salt, cloves, allspice, attional cinnamon to taste

Directions

1. Grate 1 apple, I used a Grannysmith for this part
2. Combine oats, grated apple and water in a medium sauce pan. Heat over med. heat for about 5 minutes, until boiling.
3. While oatmeal is cooking, chop the other apple.
4. When water comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5-10 minutes.
5. Add chopped apple, cinnamon and brown sugar. Cook for 10 minutes or until apples are tender and liquid is absorbed.
6. Season to taste.
*If using quick oats, reduce cooking time to 5 minutes each time.

Serving Size: Makes 4 bowls
