Introduction

Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
    1/2 cup all natural almond butter or peanut butter
    1/3 cup honey or pure maple syrup or agave nectar
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1/3 cup vegan (or regular) chocolate chips plus 2 tablespoons
    sea salt, for sprinkling

Directions

Drain, rinse and dry chickpeas, add all ingredients except chocolate chips and sea salt to blender. Blend all ingredients except chocolate chips and sea salt for sprinkling in blender until smooth, then either hand mix or pulse chocolate chips until mixed in. Spread in 8 x 8 pan, sprinkle with sea salt and 2 tablespoons chocolate chips. Bake for 25 minutes.

    I made a similar recipe the other day and it called for a 350 degree oven. http://www.skinnytaste.com/2015/02/deep-di
    sh-chocolate-chip-cookie-pie.html I found that I needed to bake it a little longer than the 35 minutes that it called for. It could have been that it was a bigger recipe.

    I made these for a family dinner today. I didn't have any almond butter, and my granddaughter and DIL don't like peanut butter, so I used 2T. coconut oil and 1/2 c. almond meal. They were VERY tasty! Will make again tomorrow with peanut butter for the wonderful chocolate/peanut butter taste I love. - 2/20/15

    I used the peanut butter and maple syrup...oh my gosh! They taste like peanut butter bars I have made for years. I served them warm with a single scoop of halo top vanilla bean ice cream it made a decadent dessert without the decadent calories! - 5/21/17
