Introduction

These taste like a Bagelful to me. Try it and you might be as happy as I was with this recipe. When I first posted this recipe, I had only ever tried it with just cream cheese. This morning (2/10/14) I had the pleasure of trying it with the jelly. When you make these, be sure you do not put too much jelly. They become overly sweet. I like the flavor combo, but I do not the extreme sweetness. Either knock off the cinnamon sugar at the end, or get sugar free jelly... or try it without the jelly, and put fresh strawberries, maybe. I made myself 2, and I am having dificulty getting through the second one. I used country bread and the rolls did better holding together this time... They are just way too sweet. For me. Kids loved them. These taste like a Bagelful to me. Try it and you might be as happy as I was with this recipe. When I first posted this recipe, I had only ever tried it with just cream cheese. 1/4 cup Milk (calculated with skim milk)
    1 tsp. Vanilla extract

    Filling:
9 Tbsp. Cream cheese (calculated with generic low-fat cream cheese)
9 Tbsp. Strawberry Jam (calculated with Smuckers sugar free strawberry jelly)

Cooking spray or butter*, to cook in

    Coating:
    1/3 cup Sugar
    1 tsp. Cinnamon

*This is an addidional ingredient, it is not in the calculations.

Tips

These do not roll well, so you will have to get your fingers into it. You can use other types of jams or jellies. It's whatever you prefer. Fill it with BP and J; BP and banana. It's YOUR choice. Enjoy!! Cooking time is not exact. I'm not sure how "whole grain" breads would do in this recipe version. Try one slice and see, if it doesn't work well, try another type.

Directions

1. Trim crust off all slices of bread.
2. With a rolling pin, roll bread flat, starting at what would be the "bottom" of the bread.
3. At one side of bread place a small strip (about 1/2 tablespoon of each cream cheese and jam) of filling and roll up. (You are putting this on what would be along one "side" of the bread.)
4. In a shallow dish, combine sugar and cinnamon. Mix well.
5. In another shallow dish combine eggs, milk and vanilla. Wisk well.
6. Heat a pan over medium-low heat; melt butter to coat pan. *Use cooking spray.
7. Coat bread roll in egg mixture.
8. Place in pan with seam down.
9. Cook until golden brown turning to brown all sides.
10. Remove the rolls one at a time from pan and roll to coat in cinnamon sugar mixture.
