Introduction

Delicious hearty bread that makes wonderful loaf bread, bread sticks, sandwich or hamburger buns. Delicious hearty bread that makes wonderful loaf bread, bread sticks, sandwich or hamburger buns.

Ingredients

    1 1/2 C. Water--luke warm
    1 Tbsp. Honey
    2 tsp. yeast

    3 C. Spelt whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. Chia seed
    2 Tbsp. Flax meal
    1 egg.

Tips

I like to proof the yeast, and add the wet and dry ingredients alternately.


Directions

Combine water, yeast and honey in a mixing bowl (large). Let Proof. Gradually add flour, egg, seeds and salt, mixing with bread dough hook until blended and the right consistency. Knead the dough by hand, or use setting on bread machine or dough hook.
Let rise in warm oven for one hour or until double in bulk.
punch down and use in your favorite bread recipe--buns, bread etc.
For a large loaf of bread, I place dough in a lightly greased pan and let rise again, about 45 minutes.

Bake at 375, 20 minutes for bread.

Serving Size: makes 12-16 slices of bread.
