Ingredients

    16 ounces guava paste sliced thinly
    12 tablespoons of butter creamed
    1 cup sugar, add slowly to butter and cream
    2 large eggs, add to butter one at a time
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract, add to butter mixture
    2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder, sifted with flour

Directions

Beat the wet ingredients together then add the dry ingredients.

Pour half the batter into a greased 8x8 baking pan
Lay the slices of guava paste over the batter
Pour the rest of the batter over it all
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.
