Ingredients

    8 large Onions, raw
    .5 cup Butter, salted
    6 can (10.5 oz), prepared Soup, beef broth, bouillon, consomme, prepared with equal volume water, commercial
    1.5 tsp Lea & Perrins, Worcestershire Sauce
    3 serving Bay leaves dried (serving size 1 leave) (by BMAKEDA)
    10 slice, small (2" x 2-1/2" x 1- Bread, french or vienna (includes sourdough)
    10 serving Kroger Provolone Cheese, Smoked flavored (sliced)

Tips

I like to use my homemade beef stock instead of canned. It makes a richer tasting soup.


Directions

Sauté onions in butter until tender but crisp.
Ad broth, Worcester sauce and bay leaves.
Cook on low for 5-7 hours or until onions are tender.
Remove Bay Leaves.
Ladle into bowls.
Top each with a slice of toasted bread and cheese.
Put under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is brown and bubbly.
