Introduction

A very easy and yummy cookie that was my grandmothers recipe. She came from the apple orchards of central Washington. Handed this down to my mother, who handed it down to me. Ingredients

    1 cup shortening crisco
    2 cup sugar
    2 egg Egg, medium
2 cups apples medium mashed 4 apples
    2 tsp Baking Soda
4 cup flour all purpose enriched
    2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
    1 tsp Cloves, ground
    1 tsp Nutmeg, ground

Tips

To prep the apples, I just peel and core. Then cook them slowly with about 1/4 cup of water in a pan with the lid on, to keep the steam in. Then I mash them real good, although a food processor would probably work just as well. Let Applesauce sit in fridge at least a day before using.

Directions

Mix baking soda in applesauce
Cream shortening and sugar
Add eggs
Add applesauce
Add spices and flour
Mix well and drop teaspoons onto a cookie sheet
*If its got parchment paper, it is so much easier to re-use the pan*

Serving Size: makes 84 cookies when dropped from teaspoon
