Introduction
My son likes butter on his veggies and I have been adapting this recipe for various one. This will work with almost any frozen veggie and you can halve it for a smaller package (I used the 32 oz. bag this time). Cooking times are estimated. I usually start this about the time I start my other food and it's done before everything else is... You could definitely cut the calories with margarine and it works, but I generally use real butter. My son likes butter on his veggies and I have been adapting this recipe for various one. Ingredients
-
1 32 OZ package frozen green peas
1 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 cup water
Directions
Cut butter into a few pieces and place in bottom of a medium saucepan. Add peas (still frozen is fine) and salt. Cook over medium to high heat until butter is melted.
Meanwhile, stir the cornstarch into the water. When the butter is melted, pour the mixture over the peas, bring to a boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes until peas are tender.
Makes: 12 servings. This would be large servings.
