Introduction

This recipe is based on my Great Grandmother's wonderful pumpkin bread. I modified it by taking out the canola oil, and substituting applesauce. This recipe is based on my Great Grandmother's wonderful pumpkin bread. I modified it by taking out the canola oil, and substituting applesauce.
Number of Servings: 24

Ingredients

    3 C. Sugar
    3 1/2 C. Flour
    1 C. Applesauce
    1 C. Water
    1 t. Salt
    1 t. Baking Powder
    2 t. Baking Soda
    1 t. Cinnamon
    1 t. Allspice
    1 t. Cloves
    1 t. Nutmeg
    1 can pumpkin
    1/2 c. pecans, chopped (optional)

Directions

In large bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Add applesause, water, and pumpkin. Stir well.

Pour into two greased and floured loaf pans.

Cook for 1 hour at 300 degrees. Then cook at 25 degrees for 30 minutes.

Be careful not to overcook.

Makes two loaves, with each loaf producing 12 servings each.
