Ingredients

1-frozen pie shell, thawed poke a few holes in the bottom with thines of a fork.
the Bottom
3/4 cup molasses, black strap, green label
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup boiling water
the TOP
1.5 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar, white granulated
1/4 cup butter, softened
Directions
Set pie shell aside after poking with thines.
In a medium bowl dissolve the soda in the water.
Add the molasses and stir well. Set aside.
Combine the sugar and flour, then "rub" in the softened butter, to form medium balls and crumbs.
Pour 1/3 of the molasses mix into the shell. Then add 1/2 the crumbs, then another layer of molasses, ending with the last layer of crumbs.
Heat oven to 425. Bake for 10 minutes. Lower
the heat to 350, and bake 40 minutes more until pie is done. Especially with a dollop of whipped cream, on the side...so....
