Introduction

A delicious soup that can be made in the slow cooker. I sometimes simmer the pork hock for a short time to reduce the amount of sodium.
You can also use a ham bone for this recipe or smoked turkey parts.
You just have to add some crispy bread!

Ingredients

    500 grams navy beans
    500 grams smoked pork hock
3 cups canned tomatoes, no salt added
1 tbsp bay leaf (or 1 whole)
    2 garlic cloves
    1 cup onion, choppped
    2 tbsp black pepper
    2 cups (approx) water

Directions

Pre-soak the beans over night in water to double the amount of beans. Pour out the water, add the rest of ingredients and cook. If using the slow cooker, I put mine on low for 6-8 hrs and may add some water for additional liquid. If on stove top, bring to slow boil and simmer for 2-3 hrs until beans are cooked.
