Introduction

I use ground turkey and ground turkey sausage, but you can replace it with ground beef and ground pork sausage. I use ground turkey and ground turkey sausage, but you can replace it with ground beef and ground pork sausage.

Ingredients

    1 cup onions
    1 cup green pepper
    1 cup celery
    2 T butter
    1 lb ground turkey
    1 lb ground turkey sausage
    1 large can tomatoes
    1 small can tomato paste
    1 small can tomato sauce
    2 cups tomato juice
    1/2 t baking soda
    1/2 t black pepper
    1/4 t thyme
    1/2 t chili powder
    1/4 t tarragon
    1/4 t parsley flakes
    2 t salt
    1 t sugar or equivalent sugar substitute
    1 cup chopped mushrooms
    1 bay leaf
    3 cloves of garlic
    1 t oregano
    1/2 t. basil




Directions

makes 8 servings

Brown ground turkey and sausage, drain.
Saute onions, green pepper and celery in butter until tender. Add all other ingredients, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for at least two hours for flavors to meld.
