    1/2 c unlsatled butter
    1lb 5oz onions, thinly sliced
    2 eggs
    1/3 cup heavy cream
    1/8c grated gruyere
    8-inch prebaked pastry shell
    7/8 c coarsely grated parmesan cheese
    salt and pepper


melt the butter at medium-high heat. Add teh onions and cook, stirring frequently to avoid burning, for 30 min. aremove form heat and set aside.
preheat oven to 375deg.
beat teh eggs in a large bowl, stir in the cream, season to taste with salt and pepper.
Add teh Gruyere and mix well. stir in teh cooked onions.
Pour the egg and onion mixture into the baked pastry shell and sprinkle with parmesan.
put on a baking sheet, bake in oven for 15-20 min or until filling is set and browning.
Remove from the oven and let the tart rest for atleast 10 min.
the tart can be served hot or left to cool to room temperature.
