These are very good sugar cookies with a little kick! These are very good sugar cookies with a little kick!
Number of Servings: 18

Ingredients

    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 cup shortening
    2 tablespoons milk
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 egg
    2 cups whole wheat flour

    Topping:
    2 teaspoons white sugar
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Makes 18 cookies.

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. In large bowl, combine first 10 ingredients and blend well. Stir in whole wheat flour.
3. Mix topping together in a small bowl.
4. Shape into 1 inch balls and roll dough in topping. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Flatten each cookie slightly with a fork.
5. Bake in pre-heated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.
