Bacon, onion, oil, wine, canned tomatoes

Chop the onion finely and put in a pan. Cut in pieces the bacon, trimming some of the fat and put in the same pan as the onion. Add the oil, and saute till the onion is brown. If there is a lot of grease drain some out. Add the wine and let evaporate. Meanwhile, cut the tomatoes in small pieces or puree with a blender. Add to the bacon, after the wine has evaporated. Add salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for about 45 minutes. Add to spaghetti.

  • This is one of the things I miss most while dieting. Thank you for this lower fat recipe! It was great and just as tasty as the original. I used wholewheat pasta and put in a red chili when cooking the sauce! Thank you - 3/1/10
