Introduction
The recipe on the Quaker Oats website does not include the catsup/brown sugar topping but my mom always made it that way. My kids love it. The recipe on the Quaker Oats website does not include the catsup/brown sugar topping but my mom always made it that way. My kids love it.Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
Ground Beef, extra lean (I use 4% fat) 1-1/2 lbs.
Old Fashioned Quaker Oats - Plain 3/4-cup dry
Onion, finely chopped 3/4-cup
Egg, beaten 1
Worcestershire Sauce 1 Tbsp.
Garlic, minced 2 cloves
Salt 1/2 tsp.
Pepper 1/4 tsp.
Brown Sugar, unpacked 1/4 cup
Catsup 1/2 cup
Directions
Heat oven to 350°F. Combine all ingredients (except brown sugar and 1/2-cup catsup) in large bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape meatloaf mixture into 10x6-inch loaf on rack of broiler pan. Mix the brown sugar and 1/2-cup catsup together and spread across the top of the meatloaf.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until meatloaf is to medium doneness (160°F for beef, 170°F for turkey), until not pink in center and juices show no pink color. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Cover and refrigerate leftovers promptly and use within 2 days, or wrap airtight and freeze up to 3 months.
