Introduction

This is very cost effective and I like that you can flavour it as you please , also you can vary the fat content! Made in a slow cooker! lasts 7 - 10 days in the fridge.
Great as it is for smoothies and for adding to granola, if you want a ticker consistency you can drain through a coffee filter to thicken......( they liquid that drains out is WHEY ...so don't throw it away , it is very nutritious! )
If you leave it draining overnight you are essentially making yogurt CHEESE! YUM!

Ingredients

    Milk, 1%, 8 cups
    Olympic Organic Plain Poribiotic yogurt , 125 gram(s)- if you do not have a starter ( or 1/2 cup starter)

Directions

Pour 8 cups of milk into slow cooker , ( I uses 1 % and skim ) turn to LOW
cook 2.5hrs then turn off slowcooker, let sit 3 hours.
Scoop out 2 cups warm milk and whisk in 1/2 cup yogurt...return to slow cooker and wrap in towel...leave 8 hours or overnight and then refrigerate. can be flavored or sweetened as desired.
1 serving is 1 cup, this makes 9 1/2 cups.
This nutritional info does NOT include yoghurt that has been drained to thicken.....

    I made this last night and I used whole milk. It was quite sloppy when it was done so I am straining it through a coffee filter to take out some of the whey. It tastes delicious - 2/25/10
