Introduction
Tasty and hearty homemade vegetable burgers. Tasty and hearty homemade vegetable burgers.Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients

1/2 cup chopped white onion
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup dry bulgur wheat
1 cup water
1 cup canned pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1 and 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce or Bragg's liquid aminos
3/4 whole shelled walnuts
2 garlic cloves, chopped coarsely
1/2 cup packed raw cilantro leaves
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
salt and pepper
Directions
cook 1/4 cup of the onion with the olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon salt in heavy saucepan over medium heat until golden brown
Add bulgur and water then simmer covered for 15-18 minutes
transfer all to a bowl and add beans, soy sauce, walnutrs, garlic,m cilantro, cumin and cayenne plus 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper and rest of the chopped onion
pulse mixture in food processor until smooth or finely chopped
separate into half cup portions and shape into patties
Chill for minimum 10 minutes or longer
heat grill or frying pan to medium-hot
Brush patties with a little oil
Use perforated sheet if grilling, or just put them right into a frying pan.
cook 4 minutes on one side, 4 on the other until outside is golden brown.
serve on toast or hamburger rolls with whatever fixings you like!
