Ingredients:
Beef, top sirloin, 32 oz cut into bite size pieces (trim fat off)
Onions, raw, 2 cup, chopped
Mushrooms, fresh, 1 cup, pieces or slices
Carrots, raw, 2 cup,bite size pieces
Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced
Red Potato, small wholeabout 1 lb
Cabbage, red, fresh, cut in large chunks
Turnips, 1 cup, cubes
Vegetable Broth, 3 cup
Beef broth, bouillon, consomme, 3 cup
Bay Leaf, 1 tbsp, crumbled
Ginger Root, 1 tsp
Garlic, 1 clove
*Flour, white, .25 cup
Salt, 1 tsp
Black Pepper to taste
Directions
Makes approximately 10-1 cup servings
Brown beef and onions in heavy fry pan
Add:1/2 of the beef broth and slowly reduce
Add: Mushrooms, celery and balance of beef broth
Reduce at a low boil
Transfer to a large covered pot
Add: all the remaining ingrediants except the red cabbage and flour
Bring to a slow boil
Add the cabbage to the top of the mixture
Simmer on med/low heat until vegetable & cabbage are cooked through about 60-75 minutes
Take out about 1-1/2 cups of liquid and slowly add to flour--whisk until no lumps remail and stir into stew allow to cook until no raw flour taste
Can be served with dumplings or yorkshire pudding or just on it's own (not included in ingrediants list)
