Ingredients
-
1 cup Regular Oats (not Instant type)
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup White Flour
2 tsp Baking Power
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
4 Large Eggs
1/2 cup Butter, melted
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 cup Applesauce
3 cups Skim Milk
1 1/2 cup Berries (fresh or frozen is fine, break larger berries into smaller pieces)
Directions
Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl. Mix everything else except the berries in a seperate bowl. Make sure to mix well. Then combine dry and wet ingredients to form a dough. Add the berries last.
We use a waffle iron to make the waffles. Use 1 1/2 cup of the battler for 4 waffles.
Cooking time depends on your waffle iron.
Note: this is based on a recipe I found with my waffle iron instruction manual but I a "customized" it to make it less calories and much healthier! I made these before posting this recipe and they are wonderful!! Very filling.
