Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    2 cups flour (do not sift)
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup canola oil
    2/3 cup milk

Directions

Put flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Stir it up well with a meat fork or dinner fork
Measure oil, then milk, into one measuring cup (don't stir together)
Pour, all at once, over flour mixture.
With fork, mix to make soft dough that rounds up into ball. (use same meat fork)
Turn dough onto sheet of wax paper; knead lightly, without additional flour, 10 times, or until smooth.
Between 2 sheets of wax paper, pat or roll dough 1/4 inch, crusty "Southern" type biscuits, 1/2 inch for "Northern" type.
Then remove top sheet.
Cut with unfloured biscuit cutter.
Bake on cookie sheet (sprayed with cooking spray)10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.

    I make this recipe quite a bit but I use it to make 12 biscuits - must be the size of my biscuit cutter! - 9/16/13
