Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

8 packages of 3oz. Jello gelatin:
    2 cherry, 2 lemon, 2 lime, 2 black cherry

16 fl. oz. of Carnation condensed evaporated milk

Directions

Use several microwave-safe measuring bowls to prepare the layers; prepare one layer ahead of the layer currently chilling in the refrigerator.

A 13x9 clear, Pyrex rectangular dish will hold 8 layers.

Order of layers: cherry with water (on bottom), cherry with evaporated milk, lemon with water, lemon with evaporated milk, lime with water, lime with evaporated milk, black cherry with water, black cherry with evaporated milk

Make the day before and chill overnight

Specific steps:
Allow yourself plenty of time to complete this recipe.

Prepare the first package of Jello by boiling 1 cup of water in the microwave. Add gelatin, stirring continuously, followed by 1/2 cup of cold water. Stir completely. Pour into bottom of clear dish. Set inside refrigerator while preparing the next layer.

Prepare the second package of Jello (same flavor as the first) by boiling 1 cup of water in the microwave. Add gelatin, stirring continuously, and then pour in 4 fl. oz. (1/2 c.) COLD evaporated milk. Place this mixture in the refrigerator and wait between 30-40 minutes before pouring onto the first layer.

Repeat for layers 3-8.

To determine if a layer is ready, gently tap it using your clean pinky finger. If a fingerprint is left behind, it is probably ready to accept the following layer. The layer below must be a little bit sticky in order to adhere to the layer above.

The final layer (made with evaporated milk), may contain bubbles. Use a spatula to gently break bubbles up.
