Ingredients

Cookies:
Baking Powder, 68 grams
Butter, salted, 6 tbsp
Egg, fresh, 5 large
Granulated Sugar, .20 cup
Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free, 3.75 cup
Icing:
Powdered Sugar, 400 grams
Water, tap, .5 cup (8 fl oz)
Pure Anise Extract, 4 serving
Directions
Cookies:
Mix flour with shortening then add sugar and baking powder. Add eggs a few at a time; stop adding eggs when the mixture becomes moist dough. Be sure the dough is well mixed. Roll dough into a snake a little at a time and make a little knot. Bake in a 350 oven for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Allow to fully cool on a rack.
Icing
Mix together the ingredients adding the anise flavoring to taste. Spoon the icing onto the baked jeanettes. For color one can sprinkle nonpareil decors on top of the iced cookies.
This recipe makes three dozen of cookies.
