Ingredients

    2 1/4 tsp Yeast
    2 tsp Granulated Sugar
    1 1/3 cup Warm Water
    3 1/2 cup Flour, plus extra for kneading
    1 tsp Salt

    Optional toppings (NOT included in calorie count)

    Poppy Seeds
    Sesame Seeds

    Apple topping:
    3 small apples, chopped
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    2 TBSP butter

    Melt butter, add remaining ingredients and saute until browned.

Directions

In bread machine, combine ingredients as your machine prefers. Start on Dough Cycle, let raise 1 hour.
Remove from bread machine, punch down and let rest 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 435*
Heat water to boil in large pot, reduce to medium boil
Divide Dough into 8 pieces. Roll until smooth ball forms. Coat finger in flour, press through center to form hole, place bagels on baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper.
When all bagels are formed, slide 1 at a time into boiling water. Boil, uncovered, 1 minute. Flip over and boil 1 more minute.
When all bagels are done boiling and have been drained on towel, add your choice of topping and bake in oven and bake 20 minutes or until golden brown.
